Japan’s Hiroto Gomyo confirms his win at the Tokyo Premier League by signing a 2nd success in a row at the Santiago de Chile SeriesA (September 20-22). He is imitated by Brazil’s Valeria Kumizaki in -55 kg. Her boyfriend, Vinicius Figueira, lost in the final against Gomyo (-67 kg). Naoto Sago (-60 kg) and Johanna Kneer (+68 kg) won the silver medal, while Luigi Busa and Thomas Scott (-75 kg) took bronze.

Almost unknown a few months ago, Hiroto Gomyo is making a name over the weeks since this summer. Unexpected winner of the Tokyo Premier League, he again dominated Brazil’s World silver medalist Vinicius Figueira in Santiago, but this time in the final (4-3).
The Japanese, who attributed his Tokyo success to the fact that he was fighting at home, won his 4th K1 after Halle 2017, Istanbul 2018 and, therefore, Tokyo 2019. As for Figueira, he lost for the 2nd year in a row in the final in Chile.
He can be comforted with the gold medal of his girlfriend, Valeria Kumizaki, beating in the final Ukraine’s Terliuga, who played her 6th K1 final in 2019 (for 4 wins). The Brazilian champion won her 11th Karate 1.
For his part, Naoto Sago (-60 kg) reached his 2nd final of the year but could not take over Turkey’s Samdan and lost at the decision (0-0). The World runner-up champion had previously beaten the unbeatable Assadilov of Kazakhstan (6 wins in 7 K1 this year) in the 1/4 final (1-0).
Germany’s Johanna Kneer hold her 4th podium of the year, her 2nd silver medal. In the final, she suffered the law of Japan’s Saito.
Finally, Italy’s Luigi Busa and US Thomas Scott (-75 kg), respectively beaten by the future winner, Ukraine’s Horuna (3-1), and Chile’s Gonzalez (9-1), went to get the bronze medal
